A day in the life of a Melody Care Carer

Working in care, whilst challenging, can be extremely rewarding. Here is a quick insight into the day in the life of Ellie, one of our carers, based around the Aldershot and Farnham area as she visits two of our clients.

What is a typical day like for a carer?

Our carers day varies often but will usually consist of:

– Visiting clients
We visit clients in their own home, keeping them safe and comfortable in familiair surroundings – helping them to maintain their independence.

Providing companionship
Our carers will spend time talking to our clients, ensuring that we help with any feelings of loneliness. This could be as simple as making them a cup of tea and catching up.
– Helping with personal care
Some of our clients need extra support with daily living activities and personal hygiene that individuals may find difficult to do on their own due to age, illness, or disability.

– Preparing meals
Our carers will help prepare meals to the clients preference, sometimes this can include home cooked meals or treats.

– General home help
Sometimes our clients just need a hand around the home, maybe with washing up or vacuuming, helping them to keep on top of the day to day cleaning.
Social visits and trips
Our clients enjoy getting out to do their own shopping or visiting the park. It’s important to help maintain independence, so our carers will help clients do the activities they enjoy outside of the home too.
